We are now looking for a Legal Counsel to join our European Division (SSE) Legal department. The Legal Counsel will work with various types of legal matters for the European Division, with focus on corporate, M&A and compliance matters, and be based at Securitas AB’s head office in Stockholm, where also other colleagues of the European Division and Group Legal, Risk & Business Ethics teams have their offices.
The European Division consists of 21 countries with over 120 000 employees, including local lawyers in each country. The European Divisional Legal Department consists of eight lawyers placed at the offices in various countries.
The position will report to the Senior Legal Counsel Europe based in Stockholm.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
As a Legal Counsel, you will provide legal advice and support in various types of legal matters relevant to the business of the European Division, including in particular corporate and legal compliance matters.
In this role you will support and interact closely with the heads of legal in the countries as well as colleagues and relevant stakeholders at Division and Group levels.
You will provide legal advice and support in:
- compliance and risk activities across Europe, including drafting and executing the Legal Compliance Programme;
- the area of corporate law, including corporate governance, corporate housekeeping, and corporate structure matters;
- occasional M&A activities and together with the lawyer involved coordinate the legal aspects of M&A projects in Europe;
- developing and monitoring implementation of policies and processes for the legal function and promote information sharing efforts among the countries;
- audits and the follow up on action plans;
- providing training on legal matters and internal policies and act as a focal point for “Doing the right thing together”;
- the continuous improvement of legal processes with the increased use of digital tools (such as the Group wide Governance Risk and Compliance tool).
Qualifications
- LL.M /Master Degree in Law from Sweden, with excellent academic credentials. An additional financial/economical education is a plus.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the field of corporate law, gained as a lawyer within a reputable law firm or as an in-house legal counsel. Experience in contracting, corporate and M&A is essential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swedish.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with ability to work together with stakeholders at different levels.
- High integrity and self-driven.
- Positive and collaborative team player who enjoys a multicultural and multinational environment.
- Feels comfortable working with software tools and open to explore the use of new technology.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.
