”Dear all,

On 29 November I will join the TeliaSonera group as Vice President, Head of Mergers & Acquisitions.

I will be based at corporate headquarters in Stockholm.

In my role, I will also be heading the CEO Office which, among other things, will include heavy involvement in the group’s strategic planning and analysis, supporting TeliaSonera’s CEO and CFO on certain board related matters, etc.

In addition, I will be working closely with the business area Eurasia that includes TeliaSonera’s mobile operations in eight markets in Eurasia as well as its minority shareholdings in Russia’s third largest operator Megafon (44% stake) and Turkey’s leading operator Turkcell (38%).

For those of you interested in some details: TeliaSonera is the leading telecommunications company in the Nordic and Baltic countries as well as a leader in mobile communication services in Eurasia.

The company has 31,000 employees in 20 countries and has during the past three years undergone some major organisational and operational changes.

In 2009, the TeliaSonera group had net sales of SEK 109 billion (EUR 11.4bn) and EBITDA of SEK 36.7 billion (EUR 3.8bn), and by the end of June this year had a total of 152.4 million subscribers (incl. associated companies).

With a market capitalisation of SEK 243 billion (EUR 25bn), it is the third largest company listed on the NASDAQ OMX Stockholm stock exchange and the fifth largest listed European telecoms operator.

TeliaSonera’s operations are organised into three business areas: Mobility Services (mobile communication services in the Nordic and Baltic countries), Broadband Services (traditional telephony, broadband, TV and Voice over IP) and Eurasia (mobile communication services in the high-growth markets of Russia, Turkey (incl. Turkcell’s subsidiaries in Ukraine and Belarus), Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Moldova, Nepal and Cambodia).

Beskedet är på ett sätt kontroversiellt eftersom Stenbecks-sfären med investmentbolaget Kinnevik i centrum är huvudägare i såväl MTG som Tele2, och Tele2 har alltid haft Telia-Sonera (tidigare Telia) som ärkerival.
